Walk Away Recaptured

A jail walkaway from a Paducah City Hall worksite was been recaptured after one hour of freedom. 20 year Angel Medina was arrested by Paducah City Police Officers while hiding in the back of a sports utility vehicle at the residence of Kimberly Watkins at 1326 Atkins Ave.

Jail Supervisors Bill Adams and Don English who with the city police officers at the time of the arrest said Medina was hiding under some clothes in the back of the SUV.

Medina apparently walked off the city hall worksite and then met Watkins at another location who took him to his brother's house to change clothes and then went to Watkins Residence.

Recordings of the jail's telephone system reveal that Medina and Watkins talked about the Februrary 9th escape on Februrary 8th.

Medina was serving a 270 day county sentence on charges of Driving on a suspended operators license and evading police. He had served 21 days of the 270 day sentence. Medina is now charged with 2nd degree escape which is a Class D felony carryinhg a 1 to 5 year prison sentence. Watkins; 41 years old; has been charged with complicity to 2nd degree escape and also carries a prison sentence of 1 to 5 years.

The walkaway occurred at 9:30am Februrary 9th and Medina was recaptured at 10:36AM.
