June 11, 2003
L to R: Jailer Joey Stanton, Grayson County, Treasurer, Jailer James Kemper, Franklin County, President, Jailer Bobby Waits, Shelby County, Vice President, Jailer Jackie Strode, Warren County, Sergeant-at-Arms, Commmissioner Rees, Judge Barton.
Franklin County Judge Exective Teresa Barton swears in The KJA'S exective board while Commissioner of Corrections John Rees looks on.
Commissioner Rees told the jailers at a June 10th luncheon that he wanted to open lines of communication with the jailers.
Rees, who has been Commmissioner since January, said he would not "nitpick" the jailers but would be concerned with the big issues such as fire safety and medical care. The commissioner encouraged the jailers to seek accrediation of their jails through such organizations as The American Corrections Association.
