Norman Springs Bank Robbery

A former McCracken County Jail inmate shot himself after being stopped in I-24 at Reidland following a bank robbery at Lake City In Livingston County.

39 year old Norman Springs had been jailed at least 7 times in McCracken County.

Springs in March of 2001,while serving a two and half year sentence on DUI related traffic offenses filed a two million dollar lawsuit against Jailer Cliff Gill.

The lawsuit stemmed from Springs having a ruptured appendix and undergoing emergency appendectomy. Springs developed peritonitis which resulted in a long hosptial stay. U.S. District Judge Tom Russell issued a summary judgement in favor of the jail in April 2002.

Springs was a passenger in car driven by Bobbie Vaughn. She was booked into the jail at 6 minutes after midnight on December 15th on Livingston County charges.
